Hero Next Door

This fall, community members and military history enthusiasts alike are invited to honor the

personal sacrifices and extraordinary courage of local service members at Hero Next Door,

taking place on Saturday, October 17, and Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Fischer Hall in historic

Frankenmuth, Michigan. Running from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM both days, this special public event

offers an intimate tribute to the men and women from all over the state of Michigan who

answered the call of duty.

Highlighting the spirit and mission of the nearby Michigan Heroes Museum, the event moves

beyond standard military exhibits to center directly on deeply personal human stories. Attendees

will have the opportunity to explore individual displays featuring authentic uniforms, personal

letters, rare flight gear, and historic memorabilia spanning six major foreign conflicts as well as

the U.S. space program. The feature pays tribute to Michigan’s rich history of service,

emphasizing the personal side of valor and the national legacy forged by everyday neighbors.

Whether paying homage to local veterans or discovering the incredible stories of Michigan’s

space pioneers and Medal of Honor recipients, Hero Next Door promises a memorable

weekend of reflection, inspiration, and community pride.
