German Worship Service

On Sunday, June 8th, St. Lorenz’s monthly German worship service will be held at 11:00 am in the Church - 1030 W. Tuscola Rd, Frankenmuth. The sermon series on the Beatitudes, “A Beatitude Attitude,” continues with a focus on the third Beatitude spoken by Jesus. “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth” (Selig sind die Sanftmütigen; denn sie werden das Erdreich besitzen). This service will share how a faith-filled “meekness” brings the blessings of peace and hope in spite of the world’s view of a meekness that bespeaks weakness! The service features German liturgy and an English sermon by Pastor Bill Hoesman, entitled “Living the Inheritance,” based on Matthew 5:5. Frankenmuth High School student Anthony Plana will read the Old Testament readings. A solo “Komm, Heiliger Geist, Herre Gott” (Come Holy Ghost, God and Lord) will be sung by Jordan Maurer and the congregation will join in singing favorite hymns: “Komm, o komm, du Geist des Lebens” (Come, Oh, Come, Thou Quickening Spirit), “Komm, Gott Schöpfer, Heiliger Geist” (Come, Holy Ghost, Creator Blest), „Nun bitten wir den Heiligen Geist“ (To God the Holy Spirit Let Us Pray) and “Nun Gott Lob, es ist vollbracht” (Now, the Hour of Worship O’er).

The service will be broadcast locally on Spectrum/Charter cable channel 191 and can also be viewed via the St. Lorenz website (Media - Traditional Worship) and the Frankenmuth-Gunzenhausen Facebook page.

The next German worship service will be on July 13th, 2025. May we take comfort in the good Lord’s promise of blessings to those who are gentle, humble, and patient. In this context, meekness is not about weakness, but rather about a gentle spirit, self-control, and obedience to God. To Him be the glory!
